Over the years I've recorded hundreds of covers. Some unworthy of attention, some head-turning; some dull, some fresh. As we turn to 2016, I've curated a compilation album consisting of 7 of my highest-quality and most favorite recordings, all produced and mixed by myself in the years 2013-2015.
I've always enjoyed making covers, not because I lack originality (well, sometimes I probably do, like all of us), but because it's rejuvenating and stimulating when I get to reimagine an already-established piece and put my own energy and spirit in the record. Sometimes it's even more refreshing and encouraging to recreate a classic in my won style and grace than to write a decent original song. And as I've grown musically and personally over the last few years, my ability to capture and alter fashionably the essence of a song has developed. To me, covering a song is as much of an expression of originality as writing a novel tune.
So, in summary, I hope whoever comes across this record can take a few minutes out and hear what I have to say (or sing) about these songs. You don't have to pay for this album; as a matter of fact, you can't pay for this album. It's free and will be free for as long as this exists on Bandcamp. This is it, and Bon Apetit.
